SunTech UK Ltd.
Sumi unfortunately fell ill in 2013 and had to say farewell to her beloved job in London. Fortunately, after a series of operations and treatments, Sumi has been able to stand on her own feet and started her destined venture! She is a proud finalist of Virgin VOOM and winner of "British Invention of The Year 2016".
Sumi is now the Managing Director of SunTech UK and founder/co-inventor of eFOLDi, an innovative concept of personal vehicle, which can be easily folded to a trolley suitcase or a chair to improve users'' travel experience and mobility.
Sumi has 18 years experience from product engineering to project management in both eastern and western countries. Before creating eFOLDi, Sumi had been working at Queen Mary University of London, Black & Veatch in the UK, Novozymes (Novo Nordisk) in Denmark, and Ocean Shipping Corporation in China.
Graduated from Beijing Technology & Business University and later pursued post graduate degree in Southern Denmark University, Sumi has grasped solid fundamental knowledge of both engineering and business in international environment.
A walking aid’s journey to BRITISH INVENTION OF THE YEAR
Life is full of surprises around the corners, some are more pleasant than others. - eFOLDi is a fortunate u-turn, of two unfortunate events in the lives of my Dad and myself. I’d like to share my personal experience as an example of a journey from independent to innovative and beyond! Innovation is everywhere, and for everyone to explore, abled or less-abled. We are extremely grateful that the eFOLDi we invented through our illnesses can actually help others enjoy their independent living. From the bottom of our hearts, we’d love to continue bring the gift of mobility and joy to families who need it!
