Jayne has worked in health & social care, nursing and training for more than 35 years. Jayne started her career as a supportworker for adults with learning disabilities in 1980. Jayne went on to do general nurse training and remained in health care for many years. In 2000 she left nursing and trained as an NVQ assessor and internal verifier, working with a range of care staff to deliver NVQ and QCF from level 2 to level 5. Returning to returned to direct care in 2012 and working as a community nurse, then homecare manager, before coming to UKHCA.
Jayne is the learning and development specialist, with responsibility for planning and developing training and resources for the organisation across the UK.
Creating a homecare workforce to support people at home
A skilled workforce is essential to ensuring that people are supported effectively at home. There are challenges for homecare providers, when delivering training to homecare staff. Many training resources are generic or aimed predominantly at residential or healthcare settings, which are not appropriate to homecare. With different languages being spoken and unfamiliar scenarios. Providers have to be able to find innovative and practical ways of training and developing the workforce.
